Rick Froman quotes the new APA manual on page 34 as: "For inferential statistical tests (e.g., t, F, and chi square tests), include the obtained value or magnitude of the test statistic, the degrees of freedom, the probability of obtaining a value as extreme or more extreme than the one obtained (the exact p value), and the size and direction of the effect." ------ It is impossible to know what the probability is of obtaining a value as extreme or more extreme than the one obtained and p values certainly don't tell us that. Why should we submit to instructions from people who don't know what they are talking about?
