Since I know there are some music fans on this list (we had a little collective memorial for Syd Barret last year), I thought you would be interested by this. Les Paul was one of the great jazz guitar players and, by some accounts, the inventor of the electric guitar: he hooked up a phonograph needle (remember those?!) to the sound hole of his acoustic guitar and, Voila!, a new instrument was born. (There are other claims to having invented it as well.)
One of the best Gibson semi-acoustics still bears his name. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090813/ap_en_mu/us_obit_les_paul Chris -- Christopher D.
