I am curious as to how many tipsters subbscribe to the idea of academic
nullification.
Simply this is the notion that states that profs should be cognizant that
there may be students in a class who may have been deprived of opportunities
for academic excellence because of racial, ethnic, poverty, and other class
factors. Hence the assignment of grades should take those variables as
pre-existing conditions affecting performance. I personally have made it a rule
of not flunking black students enrolled in my courses.
