The Brits are reporting the results of a ten year study involving multitudes
that support a correlation between cell phone usage and brain tumors.The study
was reported in the Telegraph according to CNN.
Now if the results are upheld,I am speculating that this could lead the way for
more people taking an insanity plea.It can be argued that brain tumors can
effect behavior.Of course,that wull depend on the location of the tumor.For
example a tumor in the area of the ventral hypothalamus may have different
behavioral results than one in the lateral hypothalamus.I can recall an episode
from the Brain series where a defendant was found not guilty by reason of
insanity.The defendant had very severe issues with domestic violence,but when
the tumor was removed,his abusive behaviors disappeared.The judge noted that
the insanity plea was meant for people who could not control their behavior
because of brain tumors.
This cell phone study could really
revolutionize social and personal dynamics and attribution theory.We may be
adding
a new force to Freud's unconscious-eros,thanatos and now cell phone
motivated behavior. Stay tuned.
