I few weeks ago I mentioned that a student would be reading and critiquing the book by Carter on mapping the mind. I think she has done a bang up job as a freshman.
Here is a comment that she picked up on that seems to have no evidence in the book itself to back it up. (I have not read the book.) -------------------------------------------------------- In addition, without providing a source, or evidence, Carter discusses how parents may accelerate the cortical maturity of children by encouraging the children to control the tantrums, so that the prefrontal cortex may completely develop earlier, reigning in the amygdala (90 ). -------------------------------------------------------- Does anyone on the list know more about this? I find it fascinating but it seems like an extraordinary claim that would require extraordinary evidence.
