I am not trying to top any other story.

I got this one the other day. This student has missed three classes. Since we
meet once a week each absence is 3 hours of class time. When I e-mailed her
about the absences, she said, "I didn't think you took attendance."

Hey Mr. Matiya!

So I'm going through and emailing all my teachers because I won't be here the
week of Thanksgiving (21st-29th). I looked on the syllabus and there will be an
in-class test and I was wondering if there was anything I can do to either do
it early or maybe have it be a take home thing? I also wanted to check to see
if there is anything planned for the November 24th class that I will be missing
that I can make up.

Thanks!

I just sat and stared at the computer, I was so dumbfounded.

OK, Folks. We have a winner in the student chutzpah contest. Names have been
altered to protect the brazenly bumptious.

Dr. Pollak,

I am in your phy (sic) 100 class on Mondays. Is it possible that if I stop by
next week during your office hours, I can get have a copy of the next two exams
to have to study for the final?

Thanks,

 A Student
