Hi Marie. Here's a link to snopes.com, which contains the petition: http://www.snopes.com/science/dhmo.asp ________________________________ From: Helweg-Larsen, Marie [[email protected]] Sent: Monday, November 30, 2009 11:52 AM To: Teaching in the Psychological Sciences (TIPS) Subject: [tips] Fake petition?
A couple of years ago someone posted a fake petition that argued that we should stop using a harmful chemical. The “harmful” chemical was something innocuous (maybe water or salt) and the point is that you can make anything sound harmful and of course many chemical are safe and necessary. Does anyone remember this and have the survey/exercise? I’ve searched online and in my own archives unsuccessfully.
