Jacque,
In this past, I have used an APA "editing" assignment. In other words, I give the
students a manuscript with a number of APA format errors and their task was to find
and correct all of the errors. I have found it to be very useful and it simulates the
type of "proofreading/editing" that they should be doing for their own papers.. Off
the top of my head, some important things to include would be:
-format for references to books vs. journals
-page header vs. running head
-heading levels and formatting
- & vs "and" in references
-reporting statistical information**
-formatting tables**
Hope this helps.

Hello, everyone,
I am developing an activity that requires students to look up information
in the APA manual and answer questions. I'm thinking of a structure that
allows students to work in pairs and would be presented as a kind of APA
Style Scavenger Hunt. Students would have to answer a style question and
cite the page/section number (similar to the professional umpires exam).
I would appreciate suggestions for specific points I could include -- in
essence, what are the points in the manual that you wish every student knew?
Thanks,
Jacque
