Kathleen,
I have my Gerneral Psych students write two term papers throughout
the semester and they are never happy with the grades they receive either.
I, like yourself, allow them to rewrite the papers as many times as needed
to receive the grade they are satisfied with. Usually allowing rewrites
helps with my class. They understand that they are in control of their
grades on the papers and if they are satisfied then they can do better to
receive a better grade.
