My experience has been that the students who complain the most about
paper or test grades do so because they did very little work in high
school. They have little experience writing more than a one page paper
so the job is overwhelming and they expect a high grade for doing
something. The test complainers have had primarily multiple choice, or
short answer essay questions that asked them for opinions not facts.
