We are doing several of our courses where some of the students are
at a distance [200 miles apart]. We have students in Wichita and in
Kansas City, Kansas. The instructor is at one location or the other.
When I taught an evaluation course this way I was able to teach from
KC two times only because I had meetings that paid my way. I get no
extra compensation.

The person who teachs our social/behavioral theories in public health
course also does it via two-way video. She was able to negotiate
for a TA at the KC end whereas I was not able to negotiate for any
extras. The difference is probably because her class is considered a
core and mine is an elective.

We have a professor in KC who is doing a maternal-child health course
over the web and with videotapes. Our nursing and dental hygiene
programs are moving towards all of their courses being web-based but
there will be no extra compensation.
