The Psychology Department at the University of Wyoming seeks to hire a
developmental psychologist for the 1999-2000 academic year to replace Gary
Levy who will be on leave. Applicants must have teaching experience and a
Ph.D. in psychology. This one-year instructor�s position will involve
teaching 2 courses per semester, affording considerable time for research
and independent study. The position is benefited and carries a $25,000
salary. Courses to be taught will likely include undergraduate Child
Psychology and at least one upper-level undergraduate developmental
psychology course (e.g., social cognition, social development, language
development, development of gender roles, adult development, etc.). Research
area is open, but programs complementing those of UW developmental faculty
(e.g., social cognition, metacognition, theory of mind, children as
witnesses) are of special interest. The successful applicant may also have
opportunities to direct undergraduate field placements, to involve graduate
and undergraduate students in their own research activities, and to
collaborate with other UW faculty (developmentalists include Karen Bartsch,
David Estes, and Narina Nunez). 

The University of Wyoming Psychology Department houses 17 faculty, serves
approximately 250 undergraduate majors, and offers doctoral training in
Clinical, Experimental, and Developmental Psychology, and in Neuroscience.
Situated in Laramie, a town of about 27,000 located between the Laramie
Range and the Snowy Mountain Range, UW employees enjoy excellent skiing,
mountain biking, hiking, and fishing, as well as access to Denver, Boulder,
Cheyenne, and Fort Collins.
