Re tips for teaching blind students:
A good place for resources is:
http://www.niu.edu/acad/cseas/ipobclnk.html#Braille This is a site with
numerous links to educational sites.
The Library of Congress' site for materials for loan to the student (or any
blind persons is: http://lcweb.loc.gov/nls/. You have to apply (meeting
certain criteria but this is a good site for the student.
For a pretty up to date site listing everything available in braille (to
determine what texts etc. would be available in Braille- of course, if your
text isn't you'd be limited to choosing an alternate for the blind student)
is: http://www.aph.org/louis.htm (note: this is a new site for this one and
many sources list the wrong address!)
For a discussion of the Nemeth system of imparting graphic information to
blind students see: http://www.tsbvi.edu/math/ This site is mainly oriented
toward secondary education math and the blind but has many tools
(references and some available for student use e.g., calculators, and
graphics tools!).
For vendors in tools for education and the blind see:
http://www.tsbvi.edu/math/math-resources.htm#Vendors
Hope some of that helps.
