I will have a more official announcement to send out in a few days, but I
wanted to start getting the word out as quickly as possible....
The Psychology department at Southwest Texas State University (located in
San Marcos, TX just to the south of Austin) has recently received approval
for a new Master of Arts in Health Psychology program to start in Fall
1999. The catch to this is that application for the graduate school has to
be in by June 15. Luckily this is a simple one-page application for the
graduate office, not a deadline for all application materials. We are doing
rolling admissions this first time around though, so the quicker they can
get the remaining materials in the better their chances. Students can
download the application from our web page (address below).
We are trying to keep the first class small (about 8-10 people max). We are
also looking to bring together a more diverse student body for the program,
rather than simply filling the slots with our graduates. If you know of any
students who are still looking for a program to start in the Fall, please
pass along this information. More information on the program and the
