Dear Donette,

Your e-mail is very interesting to me. I teach at a historically
black university in South Africa (Vista University). Here our
student numbers seldom fall under 350 students in the first year, 250
in the second year and 150 - 200 in the third year. This implies
enormous preparation and administrative loads.

A few articles you can read include:

Buchanan, R. W. & Rogers, M. (19??) Innovative assessment in Large
Classes. College Teaching, Vol. 38, No. 2. (The first author is
from Massey University in New Zealand and the second author from
Bowling Green State University in Ohio.)

Gleason, M. (19??) Better Communication in Large Courses. College
Teaching, Vol. 34, No. 1. (The author is from The Pennsylvania State
University.)

Good luck!

Jan Fouche
