David - I'd never flame you for this. Even if beer is nutritional in certain ways, I am quite sure that the same nutrients could be readily obtained from non-alcoholic and therefore safer (to baby) sources. Beer has no "unique" qualities in the world of foodstuffs. My gut (so to speak) reaction to this is that it is purely someone's rationalization of their desire to include ETOH in their diet while breastfeeding.
