Paul, of course, you're right.  My error.  Decartes' analytic geometry was
necessary for Leibnitz and Newton. 

There is no science without scientists just as there is no religion
without religionists.  For a view of how science really operates at the
less than objective and impersonal human level, since scientists are
people too, some of you might want to take a look at the article in this
month's DISCOVER, "The Last Big Bang Man Left Standing."
