I am finishing up a summer workshop on Alzheimer's Disease and had a student ask an interesting question regarding the relationships between AD and other disorders (e.g. Huntington's, Parkinson's, Korsakoff's, etc.). During the course we spend a good deal of time discussing the primary literature which typically focuses on the "unique" characteristics of AD in comparison to normal age-matched controls and other disorders. The student wondered how common it is to find AD patients that also have another disorder like the ones listed above, and more importantly, would a combination of AD with another disorder produce "unique" characteristics in comparison to each disorder alone?
