David,

You (and other TIPSTERS) might be interested in a paper presented at the
recent APS conference in Denver by C. Bruce Warner & Anita M. Mehan
entitled "Microsoft Excel as a Tool for Teaching Basic Statistics". They
can be reached at [EMAIL PROTECTED] They have also published a manual
(ISBN 0-07-236051-8) which is described at the McGraw Hill
site http://www.mhhe.com/catalogs/0072360518.mhtml

In their paper they explore the advantages and disadvantages of Excel
vis-a-vis regular stat packages. They also report data from a student
satisfaction survey.

All best, -D.
