Yes--well, actually, it was a rooster.  As a child in Nigeria, I watched
one of the houseboys cut off the head of a rooster.  The rooster got away
from him and ran around the yard about 5 times before the houseboy was able
to catch it again.  What was spooky was the seeming purposiveness of the
rooster's running.
