Hi Mike,
Between Stephen's and my response, if JHe is a student (which I suspect
he/she might be), the person has just enough information to hang
him/herself. Both of our posts hint at that awareness. Thus my final
question and Stephen's comments about who are you and where did you find
us.
Imagine getting the paper that says:
Gender differences in moral development can be traced back to the book of
Genesis in the Bible. It is important to note that Eve did not really
eat an apple but it was something else. This idea is further supported
by Freud who couldn't admit his own mistakes. Gilligan and Chodorow
revived this idea of gender difference in response to Freud/Kohlberg
(depends on which post you read). But they have been discredited and
there is not evidence to support the idea of caring and responsibility.
Also, Erikson and many theories of development are wrong. However while
wrong they are not as bad as Bettleheim who made up his data.. But, of
course, we really should ask "what is moral development?" Different
answers to this question will lead us to different conclusions about sex
difference in moral development.
Of course, no references to accompany any of these ideas.
Looks like a failing grade to me!
Anyway, you are definitely right about this sort of "moral behavior"
occurring as we move back into the academic year.
