Is it too late to pack up and forget about the web-based part? It sounds
pretty risky, to put your career on the line with that kind of system this
early in the development cycle (my impression is that web-based courses in
general are only successful a fraction of the time).
Were I a student, I'd be relieved at this point in the semester to have an
instructor say "This has been a failure, and we're going to change back to
something that works". Then drop a few side comments about how flexible and
responsive to feedback from students you have been. That should help with
the evals, and hey, it'd be the truth as well.
