Okay I wasn't going to get into this but who says it works in
non-eurocentric cultures? I am from a non-eurocentric culture and let me
tell you that it doesn't work. I also work in my community and this
particular practice is a real problem for the family dynamics and the
child. Please don't make sweeping generalizations about non-Eurocentric
cultures. We are *not* all alike so please don't group us together, it is
insulting.
