Ah yes, the "model minority" stereotype of Asians rears its head. What about
the many, many Asian students raised in the same culture who give not a fig
for studying and don't care what their parents think? There are plenty of
Asian gang-bangers in my neck of the woods, for example. Non-model Asians
exist, but those who like to engage in confirmation bias type thinking don't
generally recognize them.
Those who bring home A's may also be motivated by factors other than fear.
There is plenty more to Asian culture or ANY culture than that.
