While discussing the new teaching listserve (PSYCHTEACHER), Stephen
Black objected to the board of moderators who review each message
submitted:

I, too, object to this feature. I believe that people will feel very
inhibited about posting to the new list, especially given the fact that
the "thought police" are named at the end of each and every message
posted: one can't help but feel "oppressed" by this reminder that the
posts are being monitored for relevance, length, language, and who knows
what subjective factors. I know that I have not felt like subjecting my
thoughts to this sort of review. But then, again, perhaps this shows
that they have achieved their goal: they may be trying to keep people
like me from posting.

This was my thought, as well. I can get just as frustrated as the next
person with regard to the often irrelevant posts to TIPS; but I have
never unsubscribed, so I guess I feel that there still are more benefits
than not on TIPS. We'll have to see if the new list is successful, and
if it is able to overcome what, for me, has been an inauspicious
beginning.

How about this post? OK, let's up the ante, then: I'm typing this in my
underwear! And they're dirty!! (Any relevance police present to edit
that one out?)
