Hi Tipsters There is a general consensus among the faculty on our campus that cheating and plagiarism is out of control. We have a policy in the catalogue denouncing such behaviors but other than that we don't have any standardized description of what constitutes cheating/plagiarism or more importantly any standardized guidelines of how the faculty should deal with such problems. Now this is where I need your help. If you are at a school that does NOT have an honor code I would like to hear from you if your campus (or department) has written official rules describing 1. What exactly constitutes acts of cheating or plagiarism 2. What the consequences are for each level of infraction 3. If these are treated only as recommendations to faculty or are expected to be followed by all faculty. 4. In general, any specific policies or programs that has curtailed the problem of plagiarism and cheating on your campus. I should mention that I teach at a small (1000 student) private liberal arts university (with a cool name!). Thanks for your help.
