We are again doing a psychology tour in the year 2000. I would appreciate
any posting of this announcement for students, or passing the word on about
the year 2000 Psychology Tour.
Psychology Tour Schedule as of November 16, 1999:
The Psychology Tour in the Year 2000 - Monday May 15 - Sunday June 4, 2000
A year 2000 Psychology Tour Course will be offered by St. Cloud State
University, where the students, and tour course instructor, Jerry Mertens,
will visit and interact with the best of:
(1) Psychology as a Natural Behavioral Science with Emphasis on Behavior
Analysis, and
(2) Critical Thinking (Analysis) in General and Specifically Related to
Extra Ordinary Claims.
Below is a draft of my "wish list" for a "dream team" for the year 2000
Psychology Tour. A few of these stops have already agreed to participate,
for others currently listed, for a variety of reasons, they may not be able
to participate. Those interested in the people and places we will visit
need to keep an eye on the updated tour schedule for changes. An (*)
before the entry indicates a tentative okay from the stop. A (-) means
inquiry has been sent. We are working to make this Psychology
Tour course the best first hand educational experience possible.
Past psychology tours have attracted good students from all over the world.
We hope to again recruit good students this year. Our Psychology Tour will
appreciate any help in recruiting some good students. Our tentative

regular psychology tour stop on May 26. Numbers 2 &3 below are possible if
one has a specific interest in the area covered, see further details in
extended course description.
* (2) Pre-convention workshops of the Association for Behavior Analysis
(ABA) These pre-convention workshops are NOT part of the regular ABA
registration, or a part of the regular Psychology Tour. Later, a list of
these pre-convention workshops and their fees will be published. If a
touring student selected to go to one of these workshops a good way to
get around paying the extra fee for the workshops, is to volunteer as a
helper at that workshop. As a volunteer, one would help with attendance,
pass out different materials, and other such jobs depending on the
workshop. To be the volunteer helper at one of these pre-convention
workshops a student would need to register early. One workshop by Don
Pumroy And Roger McIntire is offering two students waiver of fees.
* (3) SQAB (Society for the Quantitative Analyses of Behavior) this all
day meeting is in the convention hotel. This session might be of interest
for students with strong Experimental Behavioral Analysis interests and
background. Psychology Tour members with interests in this area may select
these sessions, inform me if interested, as we need get a waiver of the
groups usual fee.
