The Stuttering Foundation of America has chosen Annie Glenn as the 1999
Honorary Chair of National Stuttering Awareness Week, which will be held May
10-16. Glenn, the wife of astronaut and former Sen. John Glenn, has received
wide recognition for her remarkable achievement in coming to grips with a
significant stuttering problem as an adult.
Since 1988, National Stuttering Awareness Week has marked a nationwide
commitment to educate the public about the complex disorder of stuttering;
to
work toward the prevention of stuttering in children; and to let adults know
that help is available.
