                                          HELPING PROFESSIONS

                 SECOND ANNUAL MARTIN BUBER MEMORIAL CONFERENCE

 The Martin Buber Forum and The CUNY Academy for the Humanities and
  Sciences invites panel proposals for the Second Annual MARTIN BUBER         
 MEMORIAL CONFERENCE to be held on Thursday, May 18th. The all day conference 
will be held at The CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue, New York 
City.  This is to be a collaborative exchange involving academics from a 
variety of disciplines, theologians, and invited lay people.

The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for an appreciation
of the life and meaning of his thought for contemporary man and woman.

Keynote presentation by Professor Maurice Friedman: “Martin Buber and
the Human Sciences."

Projected morning and afternoon workshops:
Round tables and panels on Buber's relevance to:comparitive religion, 
Judaism,Christianity,Buddhism,believing humanism and other religious thought;
 psychology, psychiatry and psychotherapy; social work, sociology and the 
social sciences; art as dialogue; biblical interpretation; comparative 
religion; economics; education; environment; history; Jewish-Arab relations; 
political science; religion and philosophy; social philosophy; theater; 
Zionism and proposed other topics.

 
Co-presenters invited.

If you would like to present, send your presentation title; name; address;
 e-mail and telephone number of contact person and co-presenter (if one 
exists).
 It would be desirable to have a short statement of under 100 words by
  March 17th.  It is essential by Friday, April 28th, that an abstract of
 no more than 1-2 pages, double spaced and a brief vita of each
  presenter; speaking time required (up to 20 minutes) be sent to:
