There's a recent news item in Science on identifying genes for
narcolepsy (Takahashi, 1999). It turns out that the genes code for
a receptor which binds the neurochemical orexin. Orexin is itself a
hot topic these days, as it acts in the hypothalamus to stimulate
food intake. It's beginning to look like everything is connected to
everything, isn't it?

Science has a website on the topic at
www.sciencemag.org/feature/data/1045064.shl

with some movies showing narcolepsy (but I fell asleep waiting for
them to load).

No references to Aldrich in the item. I'd like to know more about his
work. Care to enlighten us, Dani'?
