Dear Colleague: We are pleased to announce the inauguration of a Psychology Ethics Educators listserv. The purpose is to provide a forum for psychologists who are ethics educators to discuss and share ideas concerning ethics education and ethical issues. Because we want the listserv to be inclusive, the terms “ethics” and “educator” are broadly defined. “Ethics” refers to the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct and pertinent sections of state laws and regulations, but also to values and ethical theories and their applications to the daily lives of psychologists. “Educator” is also broadly defined: Anyone who disseminates information about ethics in psychology, who teaches ethical decision making, or who shapes the ethical character of psychologists, including professors, supervisors, consultants, researchers, independent practitioners, and members of Ethics Committees and Institutional Review Boards. The listserv, “Div24Eth,” is administered through APA’s Division 24 (Division of Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology; see http://www.cas.utulsa.edu/psych/apa24/apa24.htm) but should not be confused with Division 24’s own listserv, “Div24.” Like most listservs, the purpose of Div24Eth is to enhance communication among participants and we welcome questions, comments, and the sharing of resources. Our experience has been that many psychologists with interests or teaching responsibilities in the area of ethics feel isolated, in part because ethics education cuts across the existing APA divisions, offices, and directorates (although involving them all). And so they crave opportunities for ethical discussions with fellow ethics educators. In the absence (so far) of an division or organization directly related to ethics education, this listserv seemed like a good start. The listserv will be unmoderated, meaning nobody will edit or select the messages given. It goes with saying, of course, that we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of contributions and that case material, if used at all, should be heavily disguised. We are excited to get this dialogue going. To join, send a command to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Leave the subject line blank and type SUBSCRIBE Div24Eth <FirstName> <LastName> in the body of the message.
