Returning to our rather brief discussion of non-Eurocentric
antecedents of modern psychology initiated by the irrepressible
Michael Sylvester, I see that _Science_ (Feb 4/2000, p. 803) has just
published a thoughtful letter on the topic from Don Ihde, a
philosopher. He cites a few examples of overlooked scientific and
technological discoveries from the East. He notes that "it shows that
people in many cultures and histories can construct technologies with
ingenuity and discover scientific insights".

Given the request to Michael for sources, I was interested to see that
Dr. Ihde cites Selin's _Encylopedia of the History of Science,
Technology, and Medicine in Non-Western Cultures (Kluwer, 1997). I
wonder if there's anything in there on psychology.
