According to my Webster’s CD-ROM, AIDS came to the US’s West Coast in 1981, and it was named in 1982. 38% were born in 1981, the rest before.
Trade in your Webster's, Jeff:The first _verified_ case of AIDS in the United States (not named that at the time, of course) was Richard Wellikoff in New York. At that time, the infection had _already_ reached the West Coast and, in fact, the "infamous" Gaetan Dugas (patient zero of the first CDC cluster study of AIDS) was both infected and a regular at the SF bathhouses by 1980.
Carson didn’t retire until 1992, though only 46% could name the host of the Tonight Show before Jay Leno.Ok, now name the person _Carson_ replaced (without looking it up, of course). Bonus question: What was the subject of the joke that made Carson's predecessor decide to leave the show (hint: Its nickname shares something in common with Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton)! :-)Rick--
