I would like to know how much recognition the IAAP (International
Association of Analytical Psychology) receives. Is it in good
repute in both academic and private practice circles?
My reason for asking is that I plan to join SAAJA (South African
Association of Jungian Analysts) which is affiliated with the IAAP.
So the "status" of the IAAP will tell me something about the
standing of SAAJA.

Hopefully, some European members will be able to provide a balance to the
US responses to your question.
Among academic psychologists here in the USA, Jungian Analysis is (for the
most part) viewed as "pseudoscience" and Jungians are often lumped together
with "New Age" spiritualists and charlatans--so (obviously) the IAAP is
unlikely to be held in very high esteem.
From the perspective of an American who is also a certified Jungian, I
_can_ tell you that among US Jungians, the IAAP has an excellent reputation
and sound stature, but I suspect mine will be one of the very few positive
voices you will hear concerning your question.
You might want to contact the Jungian Institute in Geneva directly (I'm
pretty sure they have a web page) and check with them--they would
unquestionably be the most accurate source available on the question.
Hope it helps,
