On Sun, 2 Apr 2000, Stephen Black went:

> From another list I was led to a long, very interesting article in the
> current issue of the New York Times Magazine on testosterone, titled
> "The He Hormone". I think it should be of interest to TIPsters,
>
> It's at:
>
> http://www.nytimes.com/library/magazine/home/20000402mag-testosterone.html

I saw this too, and I second the recommendation. The best part, as
Stephen said, is the author's vivid description of his own experience
with testosterone replacement. (Bear in mind that he was starting
from a state of deficiency.)

If the article leaves you hungry for a state-of-the-science review,
I recommend this one:

   > Below is the unedited penultimate draft of:
   > Mazur, A., & Booth, A. (1998).
   > Testosterone and dominance in men.
   > Behavioral and Brain Sciences 21 (3): 353-363.
   > The final published draft of the target article, commentaries and
   > Author's Response currently available only in paper.

The Mazur & Booth review is worth getting in its printed version: the
29 peer commentaries and the authors' response take up another 28
journal pages (363-390...and then come the references!).
