When I was in Malaysia I saw a story on the local news about how the girls (age 15-16, I think) did better than the boys in all components of the standardized tests. I thought that this was especially interesting given the relatively recent inclusion of girls in education (past the first few years of grade school) and the degree to which it seemed to be a male-dominated culture. A less-than-scientific look at my college course grades also revealed that the girls were generally getting better grades there, too. I just thought that it was interesting that what Sommers says about American kids may be happening in a fairly different culture at the same time. -- _____ Rick Stevens __________________________________ _____ Psychology Department __________________________ _____ University of Louisiana at Monroe ___________________ _____ [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________ _____ http://www.ulm.edu/~stevens/ulmpage.html _____________
