Beth Benoit asked for an explanation of certain items on the "Are
You a Canadian?" test. Jim Clark did such a good job on them
(even if they were the easy ones) that I have only a few
things to add. And I will, given the profound and pressing nature
of this thread to the teaching of psychology.

Canadian Tire is cherished across Canada as the place you go for
hardware, car parts and (what else?), tires. It's definitely a
guy kind of store. When my elder daughter wants to spend some
quality time with me, that's where we go. With our Canadian Tire
money, of course. (My younger daughter wouldn't be caught dead
there).

The show was SCTV (Second City TV), and the segment was
originally a time-filler called "Great White North", in which
Doug and Bob sat around drinking beer, saying "eh", and figuring
out how to get a free case of beer (you put a mouse in an empty,
eh?). This insightful premise was later made into the cult
classic film called "Strange Brew". The actors were Rick Moranis
(later famous in "Ghostbusters" and those "Honey I shrunk"
movies) and Dave Thomas, on TV in the sitcom "Grace Under Fire".
