It seems at least possible that your Philosophy department might have
something to say about this. Ethics has long been something the Philosophy
considered "theirs" and they might object to such a course being taught in
some other department.

If you do proceed, it seems that it would be worthwhile to spend some time
exploring the relationship between reasoning (generally speaking) and
reasoning about ethical issues. If you'll permit a household plug, Catherine
Hackett Renner has done some interesting work on how reasoning is impacted
when the issue at question is personally relevant, as opposed to reasoning
about abstract situations.

Remember, have fun!
