Dear TIPSter: I would like to notify you and your students of a one-of-a-kind opportunity for those interested in the study of psychology and culture. The Department of Psychology and World Affairs Center at Beloit College have launched a new program for students who wish to study cross-cultural psychology while living in two different cultures. In the spring of 2001, a group of 12-15 students will live and study in Fez, Morocco, for two months. The group will then relocate to Tartu, Estonia, for two more months. In each country, students will complete a course (taught in English) about the history and culture of the region. Students also will complete a course in cross-cultural psychology, taught by a Beloit College professor, and a course in advanced research methods that pays particular attention to the benefits and difficulties of cross-cultural research. To my knowledge, Beloit's program is the only study abroad program designed especially for students interested in psychology and culture. Please tell your students about this unique program. The application deadline is October 15, 2000. The cost of the program is approximately $15,000, which includes tuition, travel, room, and board. More information can be found at the program's web site at http://beloit.edu/~wac/PsychSem/index.html. Many thanks, Larry White *********************************** Lawrence T.
