At SUNY Oswego, Psychology majors and minors as well as Human Development
majors (offered in the psychology department) and cognitive science majors
(interdisciplinary) are required to take statistics and research methods
both from the psychology department. The information science major is
changing their requirement from statistics in the math dept to the one
offered by psychology. We have around 7,000 undergraduates (400 majors)

Subject: Request for info on statistics requirements
Fellow Tipsters,
At our institution, undergraduate statistics classes are offered by
Business, Math, Psychology, and Sociology. Questions have been raised
about duplication/consistency hmmm, damned do/don't?).
I would be interested in whether or not our situation is common.
Are your undergraduate psychology majors required to take
statistics?
If so, is it through the psychology department or another
department?
Since these answers might depend on the size of the institution,
what is your institution's approximate undergraduate enrollment?
Please respond off-list if you like. I will report back to everyone.
Thanks,
Mike
