Tia:

I have had a few requests like this over the years. I refused and told the
student that morally (and possibly legally) I would feel compelled to
contact every poor student I have had and make them a similar offer, if I
granted their request.

My favorite was a letter to my dept. head asking him to order me to change a
five year old grade from a F to a C because the student had decided to go
back to school and needed the revised grade to get in. Notice I said they
needed it, not that they were asking for an opportunity to earn it.

Outside my office are "Universal Grade Change Request Forms". It's a joke
that most students appreciate. You list the grade that you earned and the
grade that you want. The reasons you can check off include:

The person whose paper I copied got a higher grade than me.
My parents won't pay my tuition anymore.

This term some actually filled it out and asked for the grade to be changed
from a F to a C. The reason checked off was
"To counter the F that I am getting in math"
