Louis, from my perspective, I have been in "industry" all my working life.
I want to be in academia because I want to teach college students,
something that I should think you would have sympathy with.

If anyone thinks I'm lowering myself by going into industry then they're
an idiot; anything besides academia would be a second-best in *my* eyes
simply because it's not what I want.

I don't give a damn about stigma or "professional" status or anything
else. I'm concerned about what kind of work I get to do and what kind of a
life outside of work I will have.
