It's not impossible to get a job as an accountant with a BA in psych--I did. I
worked as a bank examiner with the FDIC (essentially an accounting job
similar to what auditors at the big firms do) after I graduated with my BA in
psych and Spanish. All I had to have were 2 accounting courses. Psych
majors can get other business jobs too--my financial planner says they're one
of his favorite majors to hire. I firmly believe that an understanding of human
behavior, critical thinking skills, and writing skills (all things the psych major
stresses) are important for lots of professions. Happily, some employers seem
to realize this too. Many of the "specific" skills (e.g., what goes in what boxes
on an accounting form) are things you learn on the job anyway.
