I'm fortunate that my college has subscriptions to most of the major journals and that I can access and download research articles from home. Occasionally I see a price quoted for the purchase of the pdf's for articles published in research journals and the cost is typically around $30. Thirty dollars to download one article. Sure seems like a lot to me and will no doubt discourage anyone in the general public who might want to download a research article. I wish this would change. Members of the public aren't going to subscribe to a major research journal, but surely there's a price point that isn't so steep.
