Does your institution have any set policies re what courses adjuncts may or may
not teach?
I have noted what appears to be consistent policies in some community colleges
deep down in Florida.Adjuncts appear to be relegated to teach Intro and what
could be construed as touchy feely courses like Human Growth,Psychology of
Personal adjustment,Stress management,
Human Sexuality(no pun intended) and so on.In the four-year
colleges adjuuncts seem to teach a variety of courses. It will be interesting to
hear from other tipsters about that. I am curious how it is up North(I mean
Canada).
I have also noted tha adjuncts tend to disaapear around accreditation
time(Maybe some are teaching what they should not be teaching (Accrding to
accreditation guidelines)
Are adjuncts at your institution able to propose a new course and teach it?
Can this be subsumed under Special topics?
And how do you feel about adjuncts being bumped off a course to make way for a
full time prof who is short of a course?
Should adjuncts be present at graduation?
Anything else?
