Actually, and even better, he wins one for the integrity of the university educational system (in Britain, at least). Professor Buckland defended the novel idea that "students did not deserve to pass if they had not worked hard enough or simply did not have the necessary ability to succeed".
Well done, Professor Buckland! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/7307909/U niversity-lecturer-who-resigned-in-protest-at-dumbing-down- was-unfairly-treated.html or http://tinyurl.com/ykh7pw7 And while we're on the subject of winning, allow me to slip in this modest observation on the recently-concluded Winter Olympics. Canada, with one-tenth the population of the USA and one- quarter the population of Russia, managed to win more gold medals that both of those powerful countries combined. Canada also won more gold medals than any other country in Winter Olympic history. It is not in the nature of Canadians to kvell, despite the aberration of that embarrassing and cringe-inducing "Own the podium" campaign, but I imagine we can be forgiven just this one time. We're sorry. We'll try not to mention it again. Stephen ----------------------------------------------------------------- Stephen L.
