I agree with the sentiments expressed here and wonder: Have there been any 
studies of the effects of various anti-depressants on high versus low levels of 
this catch-all called 'depression?' 

I also wonder how much of the over-prescribing of anti-depressants (assuming 
that there has been over-prescribing) is due to general practice physicians 
writing prescriptions based on a 5 minute interview of a patient as opposed to 
psychiatrists or other physicians working with mental health providers who have 
hours of time with the patient.
