Eli Lilly Hit By $75 Million 'Brink's Pill Heist'

"The pills - stolen from the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly & Co. in
quantities big enough to fill a tractor-trailer - are believed to be
destined for the black market, perhaps overseas."

"Edward Sagebiel, a spokesman for Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly, put the
wholesale value of the drugs at $75 million and said they included the
antidepressants Prozac and Cymbalta and the anti-psychotic Zyprexa. No
narcotics or other painkillers were in the warehouse, he said."

I can't decide if I'm surprised or not. Even if they sold them for a
1/3 of their value on the black market, they'd still pull in $25 million
(minus expenses, such as the cost of ropes). Seems like they'd get more
for narcotics, but then the narcotics are probably more tightly guarded.

On a more sobering note, it speaks to the demand that's been created for
psychoactive medication.
