Well,the Obama administration has decided "to cut through the chase" and begin executing programs of treatment for drug addiction. This seems to be in line with the successes of the British and other European models that view the addicted as having a medical problem which deserves treatment.It is obvious that the criminalization of the drug addict has been a flop. There is noted evidence that treatment works best and seems to lead to a decrease in criminal activity to purchase the drugs of choice. On the sdelines,I find that students seem to make an illusory correlation between dugs and criminal activity.Your students are likely to believe that drug use causes crime which is not the case.
