There are timed-release medications and nutritional supplements like vitamin C,but I am trying to figure out the configuration of a timed released placebo. It would seem to be that in the spirit of experimental rectitude that if timed-release clinical trials are taking place then the placebo control would also be given a timed-release placebo.I am having problems in visualind a t-r placebo-certainly not a sugar pill or a sline solution soft gel.Can there be questions raised re validity and reliability about outcomes if the placebo is not similar in structure to the independent variable? I can see Claude Bernard (the French dude who wrote a book on experimental medicine) rolling over his grave if the t-r placebo group improved and the non t-r placeo group did not improve.
